KCATNiP
Kern County Animal Services'
Trap, Neuter and Return Program
As of July 1, 2013, KCAS is taking feral and community cats from the public and altering them at no charge and then either the caretaker or shelter staff will return them to the area where they were trapped. Due to space limitations, they can only take 2 cats per residence per day.
For those with larger colonies who are able to trap large numbers, please contact either the hotline at 661-868-6999 or email at [email protected] to make an appointment to bring in larger numbers of kitties for surgery.
Currently, this program is operating out of the Bakersfield facility only. In the future they hope to expand to the Mojave and Lake Isabella shelters.
There is a dedicated webpage with resources and information to help educate and assist trappers and the public.
